The Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles are endangered on the Texas Coast and the Turtle Restoration Island Network has a program that protects them to help grow their population.

The biggest holiday celebrated in Surfside is St. Patrick’s Day. The Irish party and costume contest occurs two weeks before the big parade. You can enjoy live music, authentic Irish stew, Irish beer, a silent auction and a fun costume contest. The winner of the costume contest gets to ride in the parade!
Two weeks later is the biggest event of the year in Surfside. The 35th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. It gets bigger and bigger every year and draws a large crowd of visitors. Locals decorate their cars, golf carts, trucks, floats and even their horses! Participants throw beads and candy to spectators. You have to line up early because once the island fills up, officials have to close the bridge.

Surfside Marina Crawfish Cook off! April 18th 11am-3pm

The Marina hosts a crawfish cook off every year at the Marina that benefits the Surfside Volunteer Firefighters! Come out and enjoy great mudbugs for a good cause!

Old Guys Surf Reunion-April 25th Stahlman Park 12pm-5pm
The OGSR will be holding their 5th annual reunion to pay homage to those surfers who have passed on. They will have vendors, a silent auction and BBQ at Stahlman Park for the celebration memorial. All proceeds go to fund city improvements on the island.
Surfside Volunteer Fire Department May 2, 2019 11am-2pm
Surfside’s fire department is all volunteer and their biggest fundraiser, for needed equipment, happens on election day! The event is held at the fire station at 202 Fort Velasco. It is held from 11am-2pm and includes plates on smoked BBQ, a silent auction full of amazing items, a bounce house, and music. Also, kids can play on the firetruck! A donation is requested for BBQ plates.
